1917 Mauser Oberdorf Gew 98, Turk issue.

Found this today, 1917 MO Gew 98, Turk issue. Always see these with a 1918 date, first one I've spied with a date otherwise. No crescent moon, only two very small Turkishicon numbers on the bolt. VERY small Turk import stamp on the receiver, almost missed it. Stock matches the rifle, but has been fitted with a bolt takedown disc. Also, I swear that sling is off of a Frenchicon Lebel. Have a look!

I have a 1918 Turk GEW98. Not uncommon. I guess you have Turkishicon walnut (?) there. I'm guessing it is not a Germanicon stock.

Not really sure, but number inside matches receiver.

    Question Stock?

That very well could be the original stock they were made like that in 1918. Although it looks like it has been sanded hard. If the numbers in side match I would say it was original.

I have a similar one. I used some denatured alcohol to devarnish and BLOicon to revive. I was quite pleased with the results After (left) before (right).
