Possible Type 1 National Match M1?

Hello to all. I just received a very nice post war SA from the CMPicon with a serial number of 5824897. The rifle is all correct except for two parts, the bolt and op rod. I was thinking of changing out the parts to make it correct when I noticed two odd things about the gun. First, near the muzzle is a ground section with what appears to be the remains of a "N". Also, the stock ferrule has been highly polished on the inside so not to rub the op rod I am guessing. Is it possible that I have a Type 1 NM and it was returned to service? I know it is not an import since I purchased from the CMP. Any thoughts? Thanks you in advance.
