SVT-40 Mag substitute question

Hello,

I saw the following SVT-40 on gunbroker: HAND STAMPED Matching Russian SVT 1941 Tula : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com
. Apparently sometime in the past someone adapted a lee-enfield mag for use in the rifle. My engineering mind is curious is to how hard it would be and if it would even work? Opinions are appreciated.

Look up the Globe-co Mohawk. They were Finnish capture SVT-40s and 38s that were converted to .303 british by a company called Globe-co. I think they replaced the barrel with a No. 1 Mk. 3 and drilled a hole in it for the gas port. I am not sure what they did for magazines but they rigged something up. Overall its all about how much effort that you want to put into making the rifle work.

Thanks for the info, however I dont think its the same thing. This is in the states, not Canada, also the globo rifle pics I found show it to be more sporterized than a plain old svt-40. I asked for more pics so hopefully I get some. From the pics posted in the auction, it looks like it uses a totally different mag follower than an enfield, as well as having been modified at its opening.

Lot of Mohawks made they way to US and can be found at your LGS from time to time (remember, some time ago it was not an issue to move firearms between Canada and US). Most of Mohawks have SVT magazines, but I saw at least one with some 303 mag, not exactly as on this auction, but definitely something 303 British.

The mag is definitely an Lee-Enfield and the mag lips have been heavily modified. The follower appears to be the original follower modified to fit in the LE mag.
