    R may not mean race but....

    D definately means dumkoff. In zeroing in a new (to me) M1917 last week, I was filing down the front sight in an effort to lower the POI.. And to make matters worse, I know better..Eureka! I discovered that a Mk4 #1 front sight will fit...the english evidently were thinking of interchangeability when designing the p14. Tall sights...who has em"?
