load for 91 Argentine
A friend gave me some loads for my 91 Arg for a Cowboy Action Shoot that shot right to the point of aim (metal plate @ 80 yrds) so I ordered some of the same 180 grn .312 lead gas check bullets from Moyer's Cast Bullets. His box of ammo said that it was loaded with IMR 4198 24 grns. Does this sound reasonable? I don't have a loading book that lists this combination of bullet type and the powder?

Set your sights on pistol reloading data | Hodgdon Reloading Here's a site for you. Follow it through and you'll find what's recommended. Never take info from the fertile memory of some unseen voice on the internet or off the top of someone's head. Nothing can bring you disaster quicker. Always use info published by reputable companies, because they have something to lose if it's wrong... You didn't state caliber, is this in 7.65 ? Also books are plentiful, you need possibly 3 or 4 to cross check info...
If the loads aren't listed, then I wouldn't use it.

According to Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook 4th Edition, the starting load for IMR-4198 and a 180gr cast bullet is 18.0gr. Max load is 25.5gr.

Quick Load predicts the following.
