    Dating A Sterling SMG

Is there a way of finding out the date of manufacture of a Sterling SMG, please. I'm guessing this is achieved by the serial number. Is there a list of serial Nos for the Sterling with corresponding dates of manufacture somewhere, please? Thanks for any info.

There's a good little book out that contains pages and huge batches of serial numbers against dates of dispatch.
