MG42 Receiver markings?

Has any-one seen MG42s marked on the receiver as just M 42 with no G, please? If so was this how some late war examples were marked by certain manufacturers? Thanks for any info.

Nope, never seen or heard of a 42 Not marked MG 42. How about a photo of the markings?
Is this a real gun, a non (dummy) gun or what?

Or is it a re-weld with the weld across the 'G'?

At present it's not easy for me to post pictures as I don't have a digital camera of my own and have to use other peoples camera. I've had a further look at the markings with a powerful magnifying glass and think that it's had the original serial number scrubbed/removed which took off the original designation as well as the serial and then replaced with a new serial number and designation marking. The bnz below the serial looks original and there is another very feint marking above the M42 which I thought at first was C7 but now believe is the date code of GZ (1943). There are very feint sanding marks on this part of the receiver. There is also a tiny 5 pointed star with an even smaller star in it's centre which I wondered if it could, perhaps, be a Russian rework/capture???
