    4t Drake sling?

All. Recently I purchased another very nice 4t set. All matching rifle, scope, bracket, scope carrier and chest. As I was unpacking it I noticed an unusual sling. It is a standard width with thong attachment at the top and a simple loop on the bottom. I thought commercial till u saw the broad arrow mark and it is stamped Drake

So, it's a 1914 pattern leather sling? It should be a US 1907 pattern though...standard issue...
    Regards, Jim

Nope. Not a M1907 pattern. I'd be glad to post a pic but for some reason I don't have that privilidge.

Jim is correct from the description. Not the correct sling for a No.4T.

many of these slings were made by the leather industry in Walsall. A list of names from 1925; some are familiar from leather and webbing items
    Walsall leather manufacturers in 1925
Moss Stone & Co and Butler Bros are two that come to mind.

Brown leather Enfield-type Slings named Drake were sold by International Military Antiques (IMA) a few years back - I bought a couple, and assume they are repros - though their current offerings are named HGR 1916

I see Matthew Harvey & Company on Mk VII's list. They made the castings for the first three or four batches of No32 scope brackets I had made. Sadly they've now gone.
