Roll pin front sight
Hello all,
I have a Eddystone 1917 with original 6-18 E barrel, red band, all matching parts, _but it has a roll pin installed where the front sight blade is supposed to be. Does anyone know why it has such a thing? I've never seen anything like that before

It was probably shooting too high and bubba used what was on hand to fix it.
Has the dovetail been damaged or can you replace the pin with a correct front sight?
If it has replacing the front sight base isn't very hard and they are always available for sale on ebay for maker specific and here PARTS LIST - 1917 Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts (see 40 & 41) if matching markings doesn't matter to you. - Bill

Another possibility is a lend lease return from Denmark
via Canada
or GB.

Roll pin sight is a Danish
front sight. You can push a larger roll pin over it and gain extra height.

This was a somewhat common Danish alteration.
