Was your Vickers always an 8mm?
My Vickers is also blued. It’s a Colt, originally made in .30-06 Springfield. I have barrels for .30-06, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54R and .303.

The Iraqi contract was in 8mm Mauser. Only a small number exported there. I USED to own Serial Number: I.K 60.
The production numbers for guns is in Dolf Goldsmiths book. The grand Old Lady of No Mans Land.
I do not own a copy to refer to for precise figures myself.
But I am SURE other Forum Members are fortunate to own a copy themselves?

And there was the Turkish
8mm converted at Vickers themselves.

Slightly off topic, please excuse, but one of my projects which I have lined up is to convert a Vickers/Lewis chest to fit a U.K. deactivated Russian
1910 Maxim HMG. The 1910 Maxim does fit, just, inside the chest but I need to stretch the chest downwards by about 1" in order to close the lid. The chest requires a completely new bottom in any case and some repairs and so it doesn't seem to matter so much about making a few extra alterations to it in the process.
I will start a new thread with more pictures when work gets underway with this project in earnest.

Blue Vickers 8mm. I got a few of the Colt 3006 guns out of Israel in the 70s. 10 if I remember. They are here
in Canada
somewhere. Nice guns, they packed the spares with mg42 spares. Just dumped them in from the
storage boxes into big crates. Had a hell of a time assembling them.

Matter of fact, that used to be one of the tests for a MG course. You were sat in an Armored Pers Carrier coffin and then a machine gun's parts were dumped in with you. There were various other weapons parts too...the lid was closed and you worked in the dark. Headspace and timing in the dark...best be correct.

Well, just start a fresh pot of coffee and slowly pick away...assemble by process of elimination...separate piles of parts... Sounds like a good day of light work for a couple of interested parties.
