Doug........help.
Having trouble this last week with loading the forum using XP IE.
Keep getting this........
Attachment 79112Attachment 79113[
Have to use Mozilla.........hate it, it just copies and loads thru IE Google anyway and is a bit slower because of it.
Try not to use Chrome, gets too many unauthorised ads with it's Lucky Search format.
Is there a simple answer?
Also when I use Mozilla I am back to loading one pic at a time.

I use Adblock Cinders, I set it up for the problems on Gunboards, this site is a lot more secure so no worries about viral infections here.......touch wood.

Good morning partner... I just got out of bed...
Ok, where to start ..
For the additional security of our members, over the last month we've been in the process of converting the site to encrypted SSL
and HTTPS. It's not completely finished, but more details will be posted in a formal announcement later this month.
So, the the first thing to try is to change your bookmarked URL link in your IE browser for our home page:
From ..... https://www.milsurps.com or https://www.milsurps.com/index.php
To ...... https://www.milsurps.com or https://www.milsurps.com/index.php
Note that http:// becomes https:// which is the only difference. Make sure you clear your IE browser cache and its history, then restart your IE browser. Most browsers sense SSL pages automatically, but perhaps your XP/IE being so old, you have to change the link manually and force your IE browser to go to https://www.milsurps.com or https://www.milsurps.com/index.php.
If that doesn't work, then let's look at other possibilities.
I assume you do know that Windows XP and IE8 is no longer supported by Microsoft(click here). It's a 15 year old operating system and so you're kind of stuck with IE8 unless you upgrade to a later version of Windows.
I don't know the exact version of IE8 (Internet Explorer version 8) you're running with it, but I assume you did perform the latest update Microsoft offered for those still using Windows XP?
Download Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (click here)
Also, here's an article from Microsoft that may or may not help..
You cannot log in to or connect to secured Web sites in Internet Explorer (click here)
For our site's SSL encryption we use an SSL certificate from a registrar named Let's Encrypt.
I use Firefox browser v50.1.0 on my Apple MacBook Pro and when I run an SSL Server Test (see pic), to check to see how it works with our SSL, the test comes back fine.

Run the test yourself by clicking on the link below and where it says enter Hostname:, type in milsurps.com
SSL Server Test (click here))
I have heard anecdotally that Windows XP - pre SP3 (service pack 3), cannot handle SHA256 signed certificates from Let's Encrypt.
Work through the suggestions above and let me know the results..
To be honest my friend, I think it's time you seriously think about modernizing your Internet browser and make the move to Firefox or Chrome..
Regards,
Doug

Thanks Doug, I use Mozilla, just don't like it,it's what I am using at the moment, my IE system uses service pack 3, had this problem months ago but it went away.
I can access all the other forums, just not this one, with Mozilla I can only load one pic at a time, will need to fix that if it is what I am stuck with.
Will try a few more things before I give up on IE though.

If I use Chrome, I have the basic uploader back again, which allows me to upload multiple pic's with drag and drop or load new files.
Using Mozilla Firefox, I only get the single file upload, although I can click on it to add another or multiples.
I am used to the former.......I am old and hate change.
Checked the settings on Milsurps using both these, they are the same, so why the different functions?
Chrome is no longer supported on XP so it is only a matter of time before it begins to play up also.

I'm not sure why you can't use multiple files under Firefox. I use Firefox 50.1.0 all the time with the Advanced Uploader and it works fine here, however, I am using an Apple MacBook Pro and not a PC with Windows XP
I think we've been down this road before in our discussions my friend. You can set whether you want to use the Advanced Uploader or the Basic Uploader here:
Edit Personal Options (click here)

The two uploaders windows look like this and even while using one, you can switch to the other...
Left - Advanced Uploader ............. Right - Basic Uploader

Notice that while in the Advanced Uploader, you can actually switch to the Basic Uploader in real time by clicking the small link to the right of the Select Files button.
Anyway, there's not really much more we can do for you, except to recommend you upgrade to an operating system that's newer, combined with a more modern browser then IE8, none of which anyone supports any loner..
Regards,
Doug

When I installed Google Chrome onto my Apple Macbook pro I found that I had a few "problems" such as logging on to one or two sites. After Googling the problem I decided that the simplest solution for someone with very limited I.T. skills and knowledge such as myself was simply to uninstall Google Chrome. I did take the "cautious approach" and manually uninstall it and did NOT down-load a programme off the internet to do it for me which I would be very cautious about doing.
