And it was made by BSA in the UKicon as I recall....... In anticipation of UK orders pre-war. But it didn't have a Ross Bayonet. NONE of them did.

That is your opinion. If Frederick wishes to present to me the evidence, I will be more than willing to listen to him and try to understand why he reached his opinion. He may have photographs and documents to prove his case. How do you know that he doesn't, Aragorn243?

If Fred wotsisname appears, I'll politely listen to what he has to say, eyes wide agog, like soup plates and rolling skywards in disbelief at his lack of mechanical knowledge. Then I'll politely tell him that he's talking crap. It's not opinion.......... it is fact!

It is not my opinion that a Ross/Thompson conversion was not made, it's fact. If it were an official conversion, records would exist. If photos existed, someone would have seen them. It is YOUR opinion that because we cannot prove that it didn't happen, it did until it can be proven it didn't. That's not the way the world works. There are two possibilities that remain. an individual or small group attempted to adapt a Ross Bayonet in an unofficial, unapproved capacity which makes it a BUBBA job and rumors of this floated around and this author picked up on it or it simply never happened and someone made a mistake. I'd say it is 98% probability of the second.

It is your opinion that because it cannot be proven it never happened, it did until it can be proven it didn't, simply because an author mentioned it in his book. If Frederick were indeed to present his evidence and it was accurate, I would admit to being wrong. I could care less what his opinion is, I don't deal with opinions, everyone has them and the majority are based on emotion, not fact.

You continue to beat a dead horse with no possibility of reviving it.

You are wrong there Aragorn243. I haven't expressed an opinion as to whether or not I think it happened or not, I simply don't know. You and others have been trying to totally rule out all possibility that it may have happened unofficially because in your and others opinion it didn't.

We can say that there was no official conversion. We can say that two books by two different authors state that a limited number of Ross bayonets were used in conjunction with Thompson SMG. We can state that the source or accuracy of this material is not known and we can even state that this information has not yet been confirmed. But I, for one, will not be ignoring the information totally, printed in the 2 publications.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, Aragorn243, and I am perfectly entitled to mine, even if I'm in a minority of one.

Then why bother to ask? You asked, you were answered, it was discussed, yet you refuse to accept what the end result is simply because it does not fit what you expected. I'd be a very wealthy man if I had a dollar for every inaccurate piece of information printed in our available publications. Heck I'd be a wealthy man if I had $100 for every error on the History Channel that I've managed to point out myself. I had a field day with "Enterprise". That show was so error filled I couldn't stand watching it and I looked forward to it for months. People make mistakes, all the time. You have a choice, perpetuate the mistakes or end them.

The question that I asked was if anyone else had heard of a Ross rifle bayonet being used in conjunction with a Thompson SMG. The reason that I asked is because I hadn't heard of such a combination before or of any other bayonet being fitted to a Thompson SMG. I didn't ask for members opinions or views on whether they thought that it may have happened. I asked if anyone had heard of it actually happening.
