Stoners in Viet Nam
Interesting photo of some Stoners in Viet Nam by Navy Seals. Very compact belt fed weapons. The semi auto Robinson rifle was an attempt to produce a semi auto Stoner type rifle but never really generated the interest, now the Robinson is a collectors item.Attachment 84373

Very interesting picture, not one I've seen before so thanks for sharing, is that a shorty M60 at the front?

Stoner and M60 machine guns in Viet Nam
Attachment 84413Attachment 84414Attachment 84415
The Stoner 63 belt fed machine gun was the first use of the metal push through links with 5,56mm cartridges. the Stoner 63 link is a little different from the M27 link (as used in the M249 SAW) and will not always operate reliably in a Stoner because of a difference in pitch)
Manual shows that an attempt was made to interest the military in adoption of the Stoner System.
The short barreled M60's in the SEAL photo are 558 mm (22 inches) while the issue M60 barrel is 647 mm - also notice the front sight is not installed

Easier to cut and crown and rethread for the flash eliminator if there's no issue with a front sight.
