What am I looking at here?

So while digging around at my local backwoods gun store I found this. The guy is sure that it is a mauser, it's a interwar rifle, and that it takes 8mm.
I think it's a Karabiner 98b but unlike mosins I know nothing about identifying them.

That was the wrong set of pictures that in another rifle I was looking at, Also is 700 too much to pay for that? the thing still has what I am guessing is cosmoline all over it. I'll try to post the right pictures later.

Yeah, that one is pretty obvious. Very good rifles, just not extremely collectible YET. But that will change.

$700 is WAY too much to pay for an M48. Really nice ones are available for $300-$350. Almost all of them still have cosmoline because they weren't used, just kept in storage and serviced every 5 years.

I suppose a picture of the one you really wanted us to identify would help, even down here Yugo's aren't all that expensive.
