    1907 with Arabic markings

Thanks for the add. Im a newbie here but was hoping someone might have some knowledge about this Enfield 1907 bayonet. Havent been able to find much info about it but is has various Arabic markings and numbers. I was able to find the date of it was 1924, and it most likely saw service in Egypt or Iraq. Unfortunately it has no scabbard.

You'll HAVE to provide better pictures than those........... And perhaps put it on the edged weapons thread of the forum I'd say. There'll be a lot more expertise there

    Welcome to the forum...

Are those phone pics? A real camera can often sort this out, a digital, when allowed to focus on macro can get these shots. Macro...

Even without better pictures I'm not inclined to think it's seen Arab service by the generally half decent condition. Definitely NOT a trait found with Arab issue bayonets in my experience with them!!!!!!!

Actually the number is 405 since Arabic numbers read left to right; its obviously a rack number. The use of the diamond shaped zero might indicate use in the Egyptian army.

My Arab soldiers were always punctilious in maintaining their weapons!

If you'll notice, in the pic the "4" is backwards, so the pic is upside-down. I'll stick with 504............not that it really makes any difference.

Ah well you obviously served with the wrong army. Not an AK 47 in sight in Oman, the FAL and then AUG were much better. Eddie

"Punctilious ". I had to look it up; excellent choice of word. Tom
