Hi,
My father passed away recently, and the executor has asked me to determine values for some of his older firearms. He was a quick draw shooter back in the 50's, a dealer at one time, and hunted up until this past Fall. Through the years he bought and sold hundreds of firearms for his own collection, and did so much trading that most of his old guns are gone.
The one I am presently inquiring about is an M1carbine with, US Carbine stamped across the top at the rear of the barrel. The rifle appears to be in very good condition, but the stock has a very shiny appearance almost like varnish. My dad had told me, years ago, that he bought it from a serviceman who needed money back in the 50's or early 60's. I believe he said he paid about $8 for it.
I'm wondering how I can determine its worth now?
Thank you!
