    Parkerizing....

When parkerizing a new barrel (in the white), does one need to plug the barrel before the actual parkerizing process, or does it not matter?

I have heard that the plugs often pop out when the air in the barrel heats up. I figured if I ever parked a barrel that I bothered to plug I'd first fill the bore with hot water to keep the plugs from popping. Don't forget the gas port if it's a gas gun.

FWIW, a smooth metal surface doesn't take park very well so your bore will not end up with much parkerizing even if the plugs do pop. Some people (me) have parked without bothering to plug the barrel but I wasn't parking match grade stuff either.

from time to time they do pop out, but, they dont fill with solution, as long as you clean them well as soon as you get them out of the oil, they are fine.
you only run phoshate at 150 to 175. that really doens get it hot enough to pop them out.
the plugs come out do to being worn out, or being bumped.
when bluing, you should blue inside and out, they will pop out, and usually right when your standing over the tank..cept for shotgun barrels, try and plug then with expanding plugs..
