While I registered two AR15s (a mid-length 16" and a 601 replica) as Bullet Buttoned Assault rifles with CA DOJ, those are limited to 10 rounds and bullet buttons. I decided to build a "Featiureless" M4gery home/ranch defense carbine that I could use my LEO exempt Magpul Gen II 30 rounders in, and have a standard magazine release. (stupid laws)
Parts list:
Stag Arms lower
Colt SP1 lower parts kit
Monsterman Grip
Colt M16A1 BCG
Colt charging handle
Colt Mil-spec carbine buffer tube
Fiberite CAR-15 stock (pinned open)
Colt 3.9 oz. H buffer and spring
PSA T marked flat top upper with 16" 1/7 twist Melonite M4 barrel
Wilson Combat Comp brake
CAR15 skinny handguards
Magpul Gen II BUIS
Bushnell TRS-32 Red Dot
Previously with this build, I got 1 to 1.5 MOA at the 50 yard indoor range. Today, I decided to try it at 100 yards on the property. I've never had better than "Minute of Pie Plate" with red dots at 100 yards, so I was absolutely amazed when I got a nice 1," three shot group with my MK262 MOD1 77 grain OTMBT ammo! This duplicates the performance of the RAW middy with its 2x7 tactical optic.
I do believe that our problems with the local pack of coyote that are preying on the small dogs and house cats in the area, are about to come to an end. Lately, 4 or 5 neighbors pets have been killed by the pack, and several more have had large vet bills because of the pack.
Pics tomorrow. My lame internet is refusing to upload pictures because someone else in the neighborhood is using all the bandwith before the signal gets to me.Information
