    USGI web sling?

I bought the below pictured sling off of Gunbroker as a curiosity. The seller (I believe) thought it was a USGI item, but I'm skeptical. For one thing, by 1991 I'm pretty sure that "NSN" had replaced the old "FSN" designation (replacement actually started in 1974). The NSN/FSN actually translates to a web sling, but I'm doubtful if the US military bought many (if any) in desert tan. "SANDCO" is the name of a few existing companies, but it's unknown if they made rifle slings.

It's a actually a perfectly functional sling, but I hesitate to call it genuine. Or can anyone confirm otherwise?

That one was made in 4/91...gulf war one... Is it supposed to be an M1icon sling?

I suspect this is what you have there... https://www.amazon.com/Sports-Garand.../dp/B0094DXOY8

I question the 4/91 date also. As I said, I bought it as a curiosity in the belief that it's just a facsimile of an actual military contractor sling, with attendant label markings also. Nice attempt, though.

They also produce the labels for authenticity...simple printed matter. I think it's just what the ad suggests, for interested parties, not the real thing.

Old thread I know, but maybe this will help someone else who runs across one of these

I have one of these that I purchased in the '99 - '01 time frame at the Cheaper Than Dirt retail store in north Ft. Worth TX. They had a shelf full, all with the same piece of paper as shown in the OP's picture. The one I bought still has the $7.97 price sticker on it.

Noticing that the package had a sales label on top of another label, I peeled it off when I got home to see what the original price was. $3.98 maybe??? Naw, the difference was that the one underneath has the text 'Original Military New' on it. The label on top doesn't. Maybe someone's conscience was bothering them.
