US Model 1917 with pretty wood
Nothing spectacular, odd or rare but I think the wood is neat.

I seem to remember there were a few M1917 rifles with the serial number 1 anyone recall ?

That wood looks like some of the late replacement Birch wood I bought for M1
rifles. Same color and figure...

A two digit rifle was massaged to serial #1 at OGCA about 15 years ago. Serial number placement revealed the fake. I image it is still out there.

Seems to be a WWII replacement birch stock. Sometimes you get a very nice grain in the wood.
