OK, here's another head-scratcher that I'm trying to research. It's a 3rd. pattern
Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife, that's a given. The stamps on the cross guard indicate that it was Indian Army ("I" for Ishapore) and the standard "crows foot" shows military issue. I've put this out on gunnutz, blade forums, and have yet to see another one or get an answer to 2 questions. No one can tell me definitively if it was chromed or nickeled for parade use or if it was sold out of service and refinished for the civilian market. The grip is that horrible zinc alloy, the cross guard is brass (under all that finish) and I was told that the scabbard is actually from a Germantrench/fighting knife, even though it's a good fit, if a little snug. Any knowledgeable input would be most appreciated. Google has been a great source of information, but this particular piece didn't show up in any search parameters I could think of. There was an English site that seemed to have the same dagger in one of their pics, but they didn't bother to respond to my request for information. Anyone???
