I saw a good video on AK "5 Things you need to know about AK". In the video it had a segment on AK zeroing. I agree most people think AK is inaccurate because the rear sight settings do not actually correlate to the yardages ad marked. This is true. The markings are for meters, not yards.
The second reason is because we tend to zero at 25 yards. Far cry from the originol design calling for 100m zero.
Here is where it gets interesting. The trajectory table shows a 14m zero to be same as 100m zero when rear sight is set on "P". I plan to test this out soon.
They said that when done this way, the sight markings will be correct.
