winchester m1907

I would like to know something more about this m1907 and what do you think about it, I found little on the internet and I would like to know if this was supplied to the police and a little bit of the history of the winchester m1907 rifle.
the handguard is creased I think due to the fact of the block that includes the shutter positioned below it

quick reply: The Model 1907 was used by the French army in WW1, they even manufactured cartridges and some magazines. later Winchester manufactured the Model 1907/17
for France which were delivered to troops, these were converted to full auto. France also used some Model 1907 rifles that were equipped with bayonets (Krag ?). After WW1
France necked down the 351 cartridge to 8mm which was called the 8mm Ribeyrolle. They also designed a short assault rifle to use this cartridge when never went anywhere.

The US FBI and American gangsters used the Model 1907 during the 1920's and into the 1930's, some gangsters had the rifle modified to shoot full auto and had a Cutts installed
on the muzzle

Kentucky State Police issued the Model 1907 Winchester up through the early Seventies.



There was more than one bozo who tried shooting .351 WSL in a revolver...once, anyway.

I love those guns, your example is quite cherry. There was a thread here last year, and the possibility on converting them to 9mm. That's on my wishlist!

One question: is it true that you can use a .357 magnum cartridge case as a casing for the .351 wsl?

When I went to work as a Deputy U. S. Marshal in 1960 there were two model 1907 Winchesters in the office firearms inventory. They were in fitted luggage type cases with compartments for an extra 10 round magazine and box of cartridges. They were replaced in the 1970's with four M1 Carbines and the 1907's were destroyed.

I do shoot my Winchester 1905 in 35 WSL caliber, easy to make the cartridges by turning down the rim on 38 special brass and I have a supply of
351 lead bullets with gas ckecks.

You almost never see a Winchester Deluxe auto loader, but years ago I did see a Model 1905 in 32 WSL with a matted rib on the barrel, fancy wood
and some engraving
