    Inch rear sight loose

My L1A1s' rear sight has developed a side to side movement and groups are showing a horizonal dispersion.

Are there any good fixes to cure this?

I am considered peening, steel epoxy or possible stainless steel tape, to tighten the sight. Wanted to know of any other workable ideas before I try one of my own.

    Thanks,
    bonnie

Squeeze it in a vice, slowly and carefully. For more professional advice, go to The FAL Files Forums

Are you sure that both screws (1 ea side) are tight?

    Paul,
Probable should have been clearer in my discription. The ramp is tight. The rear sight leaf and the base have side to side movement on the ramp.

Hagar, Squeezing in a vice sounds better then my ideas.
    Thanks

Sounds like the balls and springs are unserviceable to me! Loose backsights were never a problem in service. Send me your address and I'll send you a complete backsight assembly plus left-right screws and clicker thinggy. No charge except postage

Theres a good hint, my rear sight also wobbles all over the place.
I have the dual Hythe type apetures and thought wobble was standard issue.
I better look at that more closely!
