I was reading a recent thread on this forum and got my HBAR out to look at something. Hopefully we do not end up with a ban here as well. Thought I would post some pics. I have not ever fired it. Picked it up at an auction. I was only bidding as it started low and no one seemed to be into it. Hence, I now have my first Colt. I use Lee Enfield canvass slings on everything,love them.

My first AR was an H-Bar I picked up from a friend when I was posted to Wainwright AB. He needed some available cash for a trip so I got it for $400CDN in about 1986 or so. It would have shot to better potential than I could have done...wish it was around now. I've had scads since and now just have my M4gery and a second similar...and one in .22.

What is the back up (iron) sight on the M4. Looks interesting. Very nicely kitted out.

Back up sight is un-named, probably an offshore copy. It's solid and has been there since the build some 10 years back... Yes, it works well and I had an EOTEC on at first until I tried an Aimpoint. Now I have an Aimpoint and sold the EOTEC. Little guy just has a simple Bushnell with muliti reticle. I use a heavy buffer, H1 in the M4gery and it has changed things a bit for the better. You can actually feel the difference when you shoot it.

I have used an HBAR, back in the late eighties, and it was a very accurate rifle. The barrels are excellent and, with a float tube, make up into a pretty capable National Match "across the course" rifle here in the US. Even with the heavy barrel, a "tight slung hard holder" can deflect the barrel slightly unless you add the float tube.

I was amazed to find that very thing. A military "Heavy" barrel like ours could flex and send your MPI off by as much as 2 feet at a couple hundred yards.

I recently was shooting my HBAR with tight Turner sling, my impacts were 3feet low and 2 feet right at 500.
Shot right up the middle resting on my alice pack. They truly are the Cadillac of the Battlefield!

Only a small batch HBAR's arrived in the UK before the ban. I had one fleetingly in my hands, very nicely built, I would love one today...

The first Colt Heavy barrel was the Colt 606 with four different upper configurations and with the early 1 in 12 twist. The buffer was solid plastic (I think)

Got my upper in the late 90's as dealers were importing only the upper as the full auto lower had to remain in CanadaAttachment 107238Attachment 107239Attachment 107240
