early 03A3
I was at the Baltimore show on saturday and saw a recovered drillrifle Remington serial #33383xx. Xs are because I did not write the number down and I can't remember the last #s. Has anyone seen a 03A3 lower than this? Thanks Ralph.

I haven't seen one that low. What was the barrel date, did you happen to look?
I own a Remington 03 with the milled off dovetail for the 03A3 rear sight that is serial number 3310XXX. It has a 12/42 barrel date.
My earliest 03A3 is 3393XXX and it has a 1/43 barrel date.

I was sent some pictures of one in the 3,320,000 range, but is as low as I've seen it. I have one in the 3,350,000 range. (Too lazy to get it out of the safe to copy down the full serial number).

The barrel date was from 1944. It was a recovered drill rifle so the original barrel had a plug welded into it and was replaced with the 44 barrel.

I have seen Remington M '03-A3, S/N 3323446 with R.A./12-42 barrel. It is a complete unrecovered drill rifle.

Here is a picture of two of my rifles that I first posted here years ago. It gives a pretty good "snapshot" of what was going on at Remington back in late 1942.

Thanks for your picture! I've had that picture in my files for many years and wondered who the rifles belonged to.
With no intention of sounding critical, I'll make you aware that neither of your rifles are very original. Both, for example, have replacement stocks. Nevertheless, I still admire your rifles.
Thanks again for your picture!

Interesting. My Remington M1903 (Modified) has serial number 3332542.
Barrel dated 12-42. Unfortunately living in a replacement A3 scant stock but still fun to have.
