M1917 ejector

This isn't really a problem per se, more of an annoyance, but the ejector on my Winchester M1917 has a tendency to just pop the fifth round out of the magazine after I extract the spent fourth round before I have a chance to chamber it. Has this happened to anyone else? Again, more of an annoyance, but in the spirit of knowing my rifle better than myself, I'd like to try and fix it.

Are you sure this isn't the magazine box at fault? Out of shape?

Its hard to say. I don't know the internals very well. I will have to look at a schematic and become familiar with it.

Wrong magazine follower (p14)? Incidentally you are referring to the extractor not the ejector. The ejector is located in the bolt release and has no effect on feeding or chambering.

Sounds like the magazine depressor plate is in the rifle, if you load it with a 5 round stripper clip the first four would be OK, the last one #5 would pop out. Pictures would help.
