M1 Garand Value

Curious, A late 42 Springfield M1 Garand that has all of the right Drawing Numbers, barrel of Sept/Oct 43 era that is clean, bright, with sharp rifling, having a 1-2 muzzle measurement, nice metal, no rust--really nice looking. Only drawback is the stock has been lightly sanded and refinished. Looks real WW2 40ish as far as color and appearance of wood. Wondering of the value and how much would the refinished stock take from current value and any future resale. Really nice looking Garand. Any info much appreciated.

I know pictures are really a big help in determining value when just a short description is given, but I won't be able to furnish any. Was sort of hoping for a general figure in what a Garand of that year, with correct draw numbers, what description I gave would be worth on average. Also how the stock refinish would affect current and future value. I'm looking at it to be a shooter, a well taken care of shooter. Apologize for the lack and failure to post any pictures. $1400.00 is the asking price.

Any decent Garand on the secondary, non-CMP, market is worth about $800.
Even without pictures I'm confident enough to tell you it ain't worth $1,400. Go to the CMP or even GunBroker. For that kind of budget you can get something REALLY nice.

The correct stock with a SA EMcF cartouche in very good condition is difficult to find and would value such a stock at between $600 to $800

Thanks for the input. I thought that $1400 may be a little steep and was hesitate to buy. I will say this about CMP rifles, at least the lower tier one's with replacement (new) stocks. I'd rather have a M1 with a stock with some battle scars and use looking to them than those one's I've seen come out of the CMP. Those new CMP replacement stocks just look like they were hurriedly made and finished. No character to em'. Just my opinion.
The M1 I am referring to is on GB, asking start bid is $1400. There's another one, really nice, but about it's only original part is the late 1940 receiver itself. Looked at all of the draw numbers, stock, etc and everything ranges until '45. It has a $1400+ bid going for it. Both rifles have bid ending times tomorrow (9-20). Both nice looking. A lot of the other WW2 Garands on the site are either too pricey for me or have poor pictures/information. A WW2 era is what I'm looking for. Have a '55 era SF with all proper #'s, great shape-don't think it ever left the US. Going to a large show in Des Moines this weekend-see them there at times. Rather buy on site, also what I buy, I shoot.
