    M16A2 magazines

Where can I buy 30 rd mil spec magazines for my M16A2?

Google search is extremely limited in general, and nothing mil spec-govt issue, used or new.

    Thank you!

Gunbroker.com usually has several dealers selling them. Most mags bought by the US military were made by Okay Industries, & will be marked Okay Ind, Surefire, or Colt. (Yes, all Colt AR "factory" mags were made by them.) They are USGI milspec, & will function in any USGI milspec AR-type rifle.

    Sterling magazines

I always liked the Sterling magazines and never had any problems with them, not lightweight because they are steel. I have tested the 40 rd Sterling a few years ago and never had a problem. The Sterling magazine will fit both the AR-18 and Colt SP1 too.

my photos show the early Armalite 30rd, Sterling 30rd, M16icon 30rd and Sterling 40rd

Never had a problem. Years ago the supply sergeant issued me all the magazines I needed. It was not uncommon to find magazines during field exercises. I gave him back the junky ones and kept the good ones. That's about as MILSPEC as they get

We did the exact same thing. I tried to keep everything I found...once came across a belt pouch full of five twenties for early M16icon in Pendleton above what was then the "New" hospital. They were all marked AR15... Cleaned and kept.

Hey Jim, was that in 1975. If it was then it belonged to one of my troops that lost it. You send back to me and I'll see that he gets it back. Good deal, yes!

I think it was actually 1984...I remember we set the brush on fire up in the hills behind the hospital and I had to run over to fight the fire. Paraflare...the war had to stop for firefighting or we would have burned Pendleton... "Winning the firefight"...

Yeah, I remember a time at Ft. Richardson when my buddy and I (both Hog gunners) zeroed in on the same fallen tree and started a range fire. The other two platoons were sent out to fight the fire while my platoon (the ones who started the fire) secured all weapons and returned to the cantonment area. We even ate hot chow while the other two platoons ate C-rats and stayed out until 4 am. They weren't too happy with us when they got back but they got the day off to rest while we cleaned their weapons. Fair trade in my book.
