Lee Enfield No 4 Mk2 no Bayonet Lugs

I am thinking of buying a mint Lee Enfield No 4Mk2 with an Irish Contract serial number. The only issue is the bayonet lugs have been removed. Its located in Germanyicon where I think up to 1976 bayont lugs had to be removed form rifles usd by civilians.

If I buy it would it affect the value. Obviously I do not want to buy it at the wrong price.

Any one who can advise or offer any cooment would be much appreciated.

If the lugs have been removed then the rifle certainly isn't mint and it's no longer original.

Those rifles (many are claimed as IRISH contract, but most aren't) are around for anything from £900 to £2500 on different sites and privately. The £900 one selling on a forum recently, the higher priced ones still for sale.

There are plenty around, so if you want a mint original rifle, the choice is yours. It will affect the price anyone would pay as a collector, in fact a collector probably wouldn't buy it.
