BSA WD B40

New to me, its a 1968 BSA WD B40, these were produced to replace the remaining Matchless G3L's and BSA M20's in the Army

Like most Brit bikes front brake is for show rather than stopping you....... soon to be fixed.
Very Happy with it, as it was stored from 1979 until recently, and its what it was like when it was demobbed from the Army.

Nice bike Geoff. Might consider a 6 digit number plate 2/2/2 just like they had them in the Army thats what I have bought for my Harley 350 Mil bike, looks the dogs nuts like that.

Great bikes, I bought one from a bike shop located in an old mill just outside of Derby. They were ex BAOR and were stacked in skips, £200 and you were allowed to mix and match bits to get yourself a good one.
I rode it while I restored my 850 Mk2A Commando, then swapped it for a 750 Interstate in boxes.
This was back in the early 80’s when I was young and stupid...now I am no longer young! 😳

I'm sourcing the panniers Gil, but the main thing that will be there is the Clansman 320 Rucksack complete with 320....... I'm trying to find any history of the bike, were it went to and served etc.

Most of us are no longer young anymore........ I sometimes think what my 1962 Mini would be worth now ?? I sold it when I was 18 for beer money, at the time the shipyard was on strike for 12
weeks, a memorable time of my Apprenticeship weather excellent too, so me and a mate gradually drank my Mini.........

Tried to get it in the front panniers of the Harley 350 Mil spec bike, so I could find a high spot in the Fens.........no way Hose A on both counts!! Lucky having those open pannier areas rather than these fixed plastic ones.
OK for holding thousands of rounds and of course my rifle carrier, ready for the Zombie Virus ha ha!!

You can just strap it on you back Gil.....look out on ebay for the 320 backpack, these also take one of the rocket pouches that would go on the issue Bergan.

You need to find a good anchor point on the bike to take a carp pole so you can get a wire up. For a counterpoise buy a couple of cheap tape measures, (not my idea but one of the lads on the 320 group) makes packing up a lot easier.

You could just stick to the whip and issue counterpoise, there was a Squaddie on an exercise in the UK who had a contact with the Falklands....... just with the whip.

Got the camo back pack and the frame as an option, I'll find a way around it, trouble is mate, Cambridgeshire is as flat as a pancake, and any high spots are caused by moles
