Done by the Brits before the US got there. Churchill took or was given credit for it. Another thing I'd have to look up.

Were any "dummy/decoy airfields" ever built in the USA icon

a few miles from the real airfield? Hundreds were built in England icon

during WW2 with the purpose of drawing the Luftwaffe away from the real airfield.
