I knew about those and wanted one back in the '70s. We had to wait until the C7 A1 to get them. I never got that, why didn't we need them earlier if we needed them later? They were an excellent idea.

Nope. They existed in other countries and not mine. They would have been excellent.

They were originally done in Vietnam, there are a number of examples created and used by the SAS. Going by the condition of the rifle it hasn't seen much use, if any.
