Nice Lithgow "true" Mk III rifle sold. Not so common in that condition maybe.

I was cruising through the site the other day and took a look at it , it does look like they used British volley sights and plate on the rifle. But also this could of happened at the repair facility . I do have a 1916 that has a dial plate that is British it was cut flush at ftr in 52 still used the original stock .

True, I am always suspicious of faked or mismatched volley sights. I noticed that in the listing and then totally forgot about that before I posted it here as a shining example. Odd also that the refitted dial sight plate was for Mk VI ammunition again.

Yet another example of the rear volley sight aperture having a scale on it that I have seen recently.

AD-4NA i have a 1913 Lithgow that is still sighted for mkVi ammo . Still shoots and bore gauges at 3035 and headspace’s at no go . All with original bolt and head . The forestock is lithgow but not to this rifle as the other one was damaged beyond repair .

Oh yeah, I am not alleging that every single Lithgow ever made was upgraged for MkVII ammo, just that it makes me and it sounds like you also more suspicious that a little bit of that sold rifle might be a restoration.
