M1 Garand En Bloc with Dummy Cartridges.

I found two full En Bloc's with what I think are Danish military M 58 Berdan style cartridges. Pretty cool...

I've got a couple like that those have regular primers that are low-load prison rounds.

When I got my Garand about 3 years ago, I already had (1) clip - so made dummies for it with mixed brass I had on hand. Here's a couple pictures taken then, before I learned that you're supposed to have the top round on the RH side of the clip. With yours, if you chambered a round and pulled the trigger could the firing pin be damaged? - Bob

Absolutely not. Think how many hours Marines sat "snapping in", dry firing practice. Dry firing practice has never broken a firing pin that I've seen.

The En Bloc's with the cartridges is exactly how I bought them. I've not messed with them at all, I jut thought they were cool and have them sitting on display.

You know, before I acquired my Garand I spent months, actually years, studying the Garand. Once I got it, I loaded up a bunch of clips and went to the range. Only then did I discover that a high-left loaded-clip wouldn't feed! When I asked on the Internet, the only source of info on it was word-of-mouth. I was utterly amazed.

Someone gave me a spare Garand firing pin awhile back. The tip of it looks pretty "spindly" but I need to remember it's supported well by the opening in the bolt. Maybe we can get Bill to try one of those dummy rounds in his rifle, then show us a picture to see if it even leaves a mark on the post (anvil) in the case. - Bob

Bob, everyone is right and wrong ... I chambered three of them. Looks to me like the firing pin did not hit two of them but did hit one severely. So I'm guessing the answer depends on how high the anvil protrudes. Here is a picture
