Like I needed another blade but still, just call it a want. I saw the LMF2 and bought a used one at a decent deal and then saw the others. I since found a Strongarm and a Prodigy. These are neat little combat knives, I wish the Prodigy or Strongarm were available forty years back. Not so expensive and a bit smaller, they have everything we ever needed. I carried a Randall 14 for some time and back in '75 it cost $125CDN. These aren't bad, used can be had for about $80 CDN but the small ones are out of production. Anyway here they are, left Strongarm, center Prodigy and right LMF2.

Those are nice knives. I like Gerber knives. I still carry a Gerber multi-tool that I was issued many years ago. But my favorite is an older Gerber combat knife I carried on my gear for many years. Can't carry it anymore.

I have one...serial number 035442. I took it overseas on my first tour. Originally bought it from a friend that had carried it backpacking through Europe in 1971/72. $35 I think it cost me. Here's my Randall too...

Mine is the original trial pattern we were issued in '95 in Camp Gagetown NB, they allowed us to keep them and they issued the needlenose model after. Mine is the stubnose.

Definitely not spark free. Depending on units, (or how friendly you were with the Supply Sergeant) but general issue for those who routinely spent time outside the wire. There were a few variations, clip point or tanto, partially serrated edge or plain. A serrated edge blade you can deploy one handed is popular with troops worried about being trapped by jammed seat belts or restraints.

Most of the time you were supposed to turn them when the deployment was over. They weren't nearly as hot on getting the Leatherman multi-tools back.
