12 Sept 2023 Garand Picture of the Day

Company L infantrymen of the 34th Regiment advance at the approaches to the ravine under cover of a tank. The purpose is to clear Malinta Hill of all Japs in caves and tunnels. The company is spearheading the advance through the ravine on the north side of the hill. Corregidor, P.I. 24 Feb. 1945

"The purpose is to clear Malinta Hill of all Japs in caves and tunnels." All those period captions freely use "Japs" or even "Nips." Don't try that today, you'll be called the dreaded "racist." Asians don't even like "Oriental," they consider it pejorative.
