Just when I thought I'd seen it all....

I bought this St. Etienne manufactured Mle1892 M16icon carbine this morning with the intent of putting it back to it's original configuration. It wasn't until I saw it first hand the 'weirdness'.
It's a sporter, and I figured someone quite a while ago tried to make a compact hunting rifle out of it. And they did. Right down to a handmade sliding safety for it. Oh, by the way, it's made from an old rifle rear sight leaf.
Does it work? Sure does, really well.
