A request from the AustralianMilitary in 1913 to Harry Motton for assistance with sights for the Martini Enfield, a follow up with another sight maker and an unknown and the subsequent approvals.

I have never seen a MUES with extended leg, but I have two different MOTTYS (Shown with standard sight in middle)
I would assume the sight height was adjusted to eleviate the need to recalibrate elevation.
The comment on shooting 1000yds is interesting.
