Hello friends and collectors!
Sorry I've been MIA for a while, got busy w work and didn't buy anything for a bit while I waited on my C&R FFL to come in.
I just received this sweetie today from a GB auction (that I think I did pretty good on). 1918 production, Black, Army, intact SN and "United StatesProperty." SN 427817. It *appears* the finish is original. Definitely no parkerizing, nor any arsenal refurb stamps. The barrel also appears original but it's rough and not a lot of rifling left. It hasn't been cleaned in God knows how long, but I just got done w a good rub down. Just over $2k plus the cost of a new (old) barrel when I find one... Don't worry, I'll keep this one too!
Also came w a black M1916 Perkins Cambell 1917 JA(L?, H?), a brown Boyt -44- holster, and a brown leather double mag pouch stamped "U.S. Milwaukee Saddlery Co. 1946" on the back.
This is my first original M1911. I had an older AO "USGI" repop for years, but I've always wanted an original.
It came with three mags, two of which are unmarked and look brand new, so I'm assuming current production. The one that came in the pistol is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" but it also looks fairly new production.
What do you guys think? Does the finish look right to you? Did I do okay?
