    Fascinating. You can see a subtle evolutionary change from the pre-production concept to what was produced. There are no additional grommets for the screws, and the stitching does not end in a triangle that was common later on.

    I have seen the drawings of a wooden cheek piece designed for the early M1C and know someone who made some repros years ago.
