    Out and open

On a recent trip I took the opportunity to take out one of my open licensed 303's that I am able to shoot on properties rather than a range only weapon.
It is a 1942 Savage that is normal bedded my other Savage 1942 is hard bedded there is no muzzle flip on that one that one it is also a comp winner.
So I took the opportunity as with our new laws in March 2025 it may well be a range only weapon or try as a collectible but cannot use it, failing that I'll have it rendered.

This one has won me second place in 2 state Hi-Powered held military matches held over 2 days consecutive years beaten by a 1915 MkIII one year and a S&R K31icon the following.
It is accurate and the timber is very nice.
In the pic #2 looking from behind, if you look at the tree leaning to the right about 1/3rd up the trunk just left of it there is a dust spike you can just make out almost center of pic.

This is a bullet impact just after firing just to the left of a trough float of white hi-density foam H - 200mm x W 100mm in dimensions, lasered at 157 metres.
My set up was not the best a bit unstable but even though I did not drill it the 5 round burst was moving it around due to the debris thrown by the near hits.

My wife took the other pics as we were walking up to check the results and re-do some of the other targets I hit with it, you may ask why walk with a weapon.
Well the wild cattle at these stations are not user friendly, wild bulls will attack with little or no provocation so taking my .22 Voere to the mound was not a good ploy.
I only loaded 5 rounds in the mag as if I cannot stop it with 5 rounds I'm in deep sh*t and looking for a tree after ensuring my wife is up it or safe elsewhere!
So yeah scouts honor be prepared !

Every time I see a short video on some guy havin' a go at a big red over his dog or some such I picture how you'd handle it...with that particular cartridge... "Here, let me"...

Looks like you got the bugs out again.
    Regards, Jim
