M1A1 Stock Repair

I had a very early M1A1 come in that was dropped and the stock broke into several pieces. It was a challenge to say the least. I took it step by step and did the necessary repairs. It is not going to be a shooter stock. If it was it, would need pins to help hold it together. Here are the results. It actually looks better than the pictures show....Frank

Hi Painter and BAR, I got a call from our friend Bill Moore in Fla. who had a friend in Cal. who had set up a table at a show. It was at the end of the show, and he was taking down his display when it fell and broke. The back end came to me in four pieces, the big one with the circle P and three small ones that I glued separately and then finally all the pieces back together and in the clamps. The bolt holes then needed to be cleaned out because the glue had run into them. Lining up before the glue set was tricky. It's done and ready to be displayed again. When it was done and put back together, I did feel very accomplished with it. The Carbine is one of the first M1A1's that Inland made. Well worth the effort!

I'd of got mad and Stomped all over it. But that's me, fought a temper my whole life. Back when I bought my 1st 4 new company trucks I keyed the Drivers doors on all of them right there in the Dealers lot. Salesman looked at me like I was nuts. I just grinned and told him, There now I don't have to worry about when it's going to happen. I swear 2+ years later other than wear in the bed there wasn't a spot on any of them except where I took the key to the doors. Yea, I showed them

I got my '76 Dodge "Three on the tree" stuck in a farm field once doing a simple turn in wet weather and took a shovel to the side of the box. Sort of the same...

That stock repair would have taken long, I usually look at things a while to figure them out before doing them. They usually turn out OK though.
