I just acquired a No. 1, Mk III* Enfield Riflefrom 1917.
It is interesting to compare this to my No. 1, Mk III BSA rifle from 1923:
Apparently, sometime in its history this rifle had been rebuilt at Isaphore. Notice both the strap and the fore-end screw.
Reading the serial number was difficult as someone stamped "England" right over it. Other than that, the rifle looks good with a decent looking bore.
