Avery 1943 Magazine Pocket Type I for US Carbine Cal 30 M1

I picked up this past weekend a surplus Avery 1943 magazine pocket for my carbine to replace the terribly undersized imitation I bought when I first got it. I was incorrect in assuming that because they were old that they were weak and fragile. To the contrary everyone that I picked up at the show was better and more functional than the chinesium garbage I had. I like the fact that it's east coast regional to go with my Underwood.

It fit on the stock better instantly and I don't have to slide it up to the pistol grip to get the magazines in and out. It's snap was also so poorly executed that it put a small gouge in the stock as I was installing it. Had to pull it back off and remove the snap just to use it. I've included a couple of pics of the Biscayne copy.

I did that too, afraid it would damage the stock and couldn't imagine needing the snap again.

I was incorrect in assuming that because they were old that they were weak and fragile.

They must have made billions of them, as long as they were stored decently they all seem to be as new.

I have had these a very long time and do not think they were ever used
