Here are my pickups for the month thus far... an 1899 Carl Gustafs M38b and a 1943 Tula PU refurb with original refurbed scope.
Also picked up a M1903A3 yet to be detail cleaned and photographed along with some bayonets and assorted other goodies.

Lovely piece... and rare ...
~Angel~ (Mrs. Badger) has exactly the same "Trench Periscope" in her collection, except hers is Serial #6230. It was never painted and has an all brass finish, so perhaps the earlier serial number manufactured ones didn't do that. They were used not only by Artillery, but in general by all levels of troops (including snipers), who needed to see without being seen for observation, as well as safety of not sticking one's head up ...
~Angel~ also has a U.S. manufactured Wollensack used by U.S. troops for the same purpose.
I've been meaning to do photo montages of these pieces for our Knowledge Library
, but I've got so many rifles and pistols lined up for that work, I've sort of put accessories at the rear of the photo shoot line up.
Regards,
Badger
