Paypal question
I have an auction running on you-know-where and a gentleman asked me about paying with a source other than the "approved" one. He wants to use a USPS money order. It seems like someone told me the trick to this but I don't remember how to do it.
(Yes, I know about not using eBay, but the part was on consignment from another gentleman and that was the way he wanted it run)

Paypal....not in this lifetime. Before even attempting to use this service I received a few e mails addressed to another person about his account. I notified Paypal of error but never heard response. One day I happened upon an item I wanted to purchase and this was the mode of payment required. I attempted to sign up but was unable due to my (e-mail) address already in use. Contact to company led to sorry can't do anything. Didn't matter if I've had this same address for close to 9 years. As far as they were concerned their files were correct and I could always go get another internet account. So needless to say I never did get what I was attempting to purchase, and if you happen to be Charles Ingram using MY address how's about canceling you account! Not that I ever intend to use paypal but to stop your mail from getting in my inbox.

Rick, I think those crafty fellows at "that site" may have covered all the angles. Their policy is that a seller MUST accept Paypal, & MAY NOT accept any other form of payment.
So, the only way your correspondent could "get" the item would be if he hasn't met your reserve & no one outbids him, & the item appears to be unsold. I don't know how your auction is set up, but it may be difficult to beat the system.
Keep in mind, if the customer is unhappy & reports you, both accounts will be frozen for months. I don't think it's worth the chance; the fanatics can be vicious.

Neal,
If the buyer initiates the request to pay via postal money order by way of "Asking the Seller a Question," and you have that mesage on record, you can accept that form of payment.

I've used Money Orders in place of Paypal on "that site" for several transactions.
When the auction ends, I contact the seller with the request to use a Money Order for the transaction. I don't even use "that site's" - Contact the Seller as "that site's" police may get wind of using an alternate form of payment and could shut down both seller and buyer. As long as the seller knows, up front, then there shouldn't be any problems. The sellers I've contacted to use a Money Order all hate Paypal anyway, so that isn't much of a problem. So far, I've encountered no problems with "that site"...
I've been trying to "wean" myself off "that site" anyway as both "that site" and Paypal are very anti-gun.
