First post, Different reciever markings No4 MK2 than any others

This is my first post, been looking awhile. I bought a really nice No4 MK2 on Gunbroker 2 weeks ago, got it 3 days ago, it shoots great, I absolutly love it.
I bought a Lithgow MkIII* 4 days ago on GB too. They must be addicting...
My question is The Mk2 has a strange serial number. The reciever is marked No4 MK2 then there is also a c that is in a circle, like the copy rights symbol, and the metal grip area is marked N 805. The stock heel is stamped N 805 and so is the bottom of the magazine and the front of the stock, by the shooters left hand, underneath. The rifle's serial # is etched like most MK2's. Out of all Franzerly or how ever you spell it, the serial number is low, 3 numbers, preceeded my a N, also there are no serial number on the reciever. Here's the gunbroker auction i.d. number 127695148, it will still come up, but as closed/sold. Do I have a rare rifle, or what? Also the magazine follower is a savage, squared s, but the bottom of the magazine is stamped N805.
Help please, lots of great info on here.

My best guess is that it is a left over late action Mk 2 (no cutt of block) that was assembled. The s/n is not standard as you know and the rear sight is of Poole manufacture, Fazakerly would of marked their ID on it somewhere and would not of stamped the s/n on the handle, they would of used an electric pencil.

It is a factory rifle, by whom and for whom, no idea. When you have time take off the rear handguard and see if there is any markings on the barrel.

I have a No4 Mk2 with the serial No N1767 stamped on bolt, butt & forend. C in circle on left butt socket and no number on action body. I know of one similar marked No4 Mk2 in NZ. The previous owner of my rifle bought it from a retired Naval Officer. The story goes that a batch of these rifle were hand assembled by the Royal Navy especially for Service Rifle competition, the number made up is quite small , talk of around 20. This is as much as I know, except that my one is exeptionally accurate. How many more are out there?

Hi ,

Is the c only on the reciever or also on the barrel ?
C in a circle on the barrel normaly means competitiongrade barrel, converted to .308 and was used in Canada.

I've got this posted on a couple other boards too. All I'm getting is that they think that this rifle is a rebuild built for competitions of Cadet training or was some kind of rebuild.
Mine is very accurate too. So I take it that these are rare as hen's teeth, maybe collectors items? I just wish that there was more info on these rare rifles? So are these Canadian, or where was it built. I've been told before that the c in a circle was Canadian. I'm pretty sure I saw one more on gunbroker this week.

These guns were British assembled, the C in circle is on the left hand butt socket only,my one was made up using a new umarked action, I made a mistake about where the serial No`s are. A hand stamped No is also on the left butt socket.
