    Freurt

I saw a bayonet over the weekend that has FREURT stamped on the blade with a crown above it. Overall lenght was 13" and the blood grove runs right to the point so I am guessing it has been reground. The scabbard has a metal top and tip with leather in between similiar in design to a 1907 scabbard. I know it is Germanicon but when did Freurt make bayonets?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    khornet.

Are you sure it wasn't ERFURT?

Your spelling maybe correct as the stamping was not very deep . So, who or where was Erfurt

Erfurt was a Germanicon Imperial arsenal, most of their stuff dates from the Franco-Prussina War up until the end of WW1. Likely you have a WW1 era Gew98 bayonet.

But I have a Freurt bayonet as well. It has the symbol of a crown above the name.

Can you please post a photo? Most bayonets with a crown with something like XXXURT on them are ERFURT.
