soooooo whats up with the Ebay thing?

    mmmmk,
i know many of us buy and sell on Fleabay, myself included, but, really??why advertise for a gun hating company with bad customer service??
many of have felt the sting of the anti gun policies from Ebay..
the fact that they really dont care about the ones that put money in bank for them...
example...i being a seller am Ebays customer,. Joe buyer that buys my stuff is MY customer..
if Joe buyer burns me, doesnt pay me, ect,,i cant leave him a negative..and even when a auction states...SOLD AS IS.. he can still return it, and cry to ebay , and get his money back...
and i as the seller have no say in the matter...
Ebay is one of the richest companies in the world, do we really need to hump them up even more???and add to the powers that want to take out freedoms away???

the year Ebay changed its gunparts rule, they lost 9 million in sales, 3 years later they changed the feedback policy, lost another 8 million..so they jacked up the cost of auction sales,..and still lost more money...
i get emails from them saying....tell everyone about ebay,, sell ebay ..ect ect..
remember when ebay sold itself??? i say... revoke the gunparts rule, changet the feed back to the way it was, and give your sellers a brake...
and DONT FORCE PEOPLE TO USE PAYPAL!!!, and let sellers and buyer deal the way THEY want...and ebay would start making money again...

ok..ill get off my soap box now....but really, ebay as a sponser for a gun related forum....????

Chuck, I personally have never been able to deal through Ebay because of the difficulties you just stated. I hate to see things I can only drool over and not offer on. Simple things like a bayonet. It seems if you're not in this thing hip deep then you're out.

I don't understand what you guys are talking about. I've heard there is a gun parts rule of some sort but it doesn't seem to be enforced. I made four purchases of gun parts on ebay yesterday alone ranging from bayonets, to K98icon parts to sight covers for a cadet rifle. I also see no shortage of parts from other firearms types as I've been watching them for the past couple of weeks including magazines, clips, cleaning rods, etc.

So what exactly is being restricted?

in the words of the so called {gunexperts} on ebay..anything that can make a gun fire lol..
so, barrels, bolts, firingpins, magazines, magazine tubes, hammers, triggers, frames and receivers are now banned from ebay sales in the US.
but i notice that many money sponsers from Cabellas, Sportsmans guide ect, can advertise such things on the bottom of the search.,,,that is total BS.
to make it worse, if you put something on that sounds like a banned part, they pull it, and after 3 times,,,they suspend you for 2 days, then if again 2 weeks,
like mommy punishing you for being a bad boy...lol..
    i wont go into detail,,
but yes, they do watch it, they look for words like,,AK47, bolt ect,,then take a quick look, not knowing what they are actually looking at, and if looks anything like a banned item...they pull it.
they do refund your ebay fees, but pull it non the less.
and once your tagged as a {gun parts guy} they have a person set up to watch just your auctions...
    now.
you can list, illegal things like,,a still, or items to make drugs, sell conterfit items, shirts, handbags ect..and even sell BS home loans..but no gunparts.

I buy and sell on there, too. Also GB. Not trying to make a killin, just havin fun. Don't agree with all the rules, but the pros outway the cons, I think.

We all talk about it, and know that its a great source for hard to find items, but I don't even like to "say" it here. Thats why I like to use Chucks term, "fleabay".

When I'm online I can go to the auction sites, this forum, and other places with a click of the button - their all my "favorites".

But now we see the symbol every time we go to the forum list.

It's kinda disappointing, cause now I can say theres something on this site I don't like.

    My $.02, anyway.

    Thumbs up

    I'm with you guys 100% ....

I hate eBay, I hate PayPal, I hate their anti-firearm discrimination and dragging their political leanings into what should otherwise be a pure business environment and nothing more.

... but, my wife and I need to eat too ...

    Google Ad-sense (Beta Testing)

Click the link above. Please specifically read the part about eBay in the section titled Who pays for the operating costs for this site?.

If it wasn't for some of you folks who help us out by being Contributing Members, I'm not sure we could do this on the scale we do at all, so for that, we really thank you very much ..

So, if anyone has a better idea on how not to have to deal with the devil, we're all ears ...

By the way, Google and Kontera also refused us as they have a "no firearms" policy and said they didn't want to expose their customers to it. I pointed out to Google that they take money from firearm advertisers, yet they refuse wanting to permit us as a "fireams" collectibles site from showing those same Google Ad-sense ads? Anyway, they let our Ad-sense program stand without further comment, but so far the testing has only generated $12.50 in about two weeks, so it's nothing to write home about. It's not much more than one Contributing Member donating, but since the ads are only seen by Registered Members who use the site for free, I guess every little bit helps and it's a small price for a free member to pay to help us out.

    Regards,
    Doug (Badger)

I guess I'm in the minority that I love ebay.

I have had so many opportunities to get things that I never would have even known existed if it weren't for ebay. Books for the most part. But I've also been able to get parts for my firearms, collectibles and a few other things over the years. I hit my search engines for ebay at least twice a day.

Would I like being able to get ammo off ebay, sure, but the lack of that ability doesn't really diminish the positives of the site for non-firearms items. And like I said, I've gotten or seen all the parts I'm looking for for four different rifles on ebay just in the last two weeks so I'm still not seeing their ban being enforced to any great extent. I'm not looking for barrels or receivers so that may be the difference I guess.

Like I said before, I do like fleabay (I'm stickin' with Chucks term while on the forum), I liked them even more before Paypal, back when I bought a bunch of M2 carbine parts! The availability of parts and info is enormous.

I still don't like seeing the link on this site, but if it generates money, I don't hate it , either.

I wish everyone could donate enough money to keep it off, but...

If it helps keep this site going, then I'm down with it.

I think you will find a new way of purchasing will be introduced in Canadaicon by this fall. Someone I know has just invested in it and it does sound very feasable and appears to not have the restrictions that ebay presently has. Merchandise will be sold out of "stores" with the cost per item very reasonable. Hopefully it will be successful and give everyone a chance to sell what they want and what the buying public wants to purchase. I believe I was told the company is going to donate 25% of its profits to charity! I sure hope all of this is true.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
